Kuala Terengganu - Makang Sekak Sekak Nok Buffet Steamboat

Is Christmas Eve! We were starving… We were looking for a HUGE feast to satisfy our stomach. Buffet?! Steamboat?! Now is only 5pm. Though of going to Family Steamboat at Jalan Kamarudin, but it is still closed.

So, we tried the Makang Sekak Sekak Nok, at Jalan Sultan Zainal Abidin. Just beside the Al-Eldrus (the famous Arab cuisine in KT) and the shop is facing the Muslim burial ground.

The Makang Sekak Sekak Nok offers buffet steamboat
Hot pot with bbq grill.

As we strolled down the food counter, I will say, not so much of variety (can’t compare with the well-known Yuen Steamboat in Sunway Mentari, Selangor).

They have marinated beef and chicken (about six types), vegetables and fish balls, seafood they only have lala, clams and cuttlefish. No fish, prawn and no crab.
Limited sauce (I missed Seoul Garden…).

But the good point is, free flow for ice creams (Nestles), Sunkist, Bandung and ABC!

Saviour their well marinated beef and chicken.

Reasonable price:

RM 23.90 for adult
RM 19.90 for student from 4pm - 7pm.
RM13.90 for children

Will I come over again?
Yes! I love their marinated beef!
Their marinated chicken, not bad too.
Just that, some of the portion I took was filled with bones. I hardly get a bite of the chicken meat :P

Kuala Terengganu - Satay

One of the satay stalls that I prefer in Kuala Terengganu is the satay stall in the Pasar Tani (behind the Giant Jalan Sultan Mohamad and beside the State Library). Opens on Thursday morning and Saturday morning and on Friday in Cendering Pasar Malam.

They sell Satay Daging (Beef Satay) and Satay Ayam (Chicken Satay).

Smells amazingly good, even if it is not hot . So don’t worried if you tapau to eat it later ;)

However…, they used some chicken fat skin in between the chicken meat. Just don’t consume this too often, ok?

Per stick is for RM 0.60.
Nasi is for RM 0.50.

Mouth watering satay that drenched in the satay gravy!

so good business ^^

Chickpea / Kacang Kuda

Planning to buy some snacks to savour your "balik kampung" journey?
Try Kacang Kuda or Chickpea! It is easy to prepare and most important is, it is a healthy snack! You can easily get it from the R&R centre along the highway. However, if you prepared yourself, you can any herbs that you favor. I prefer the simple plain one.
Not spicy.

This is how I prepared the simple plain Kacang Kuda or Chickpea:

     1)  Soak the chickpeas in a large bowl of cold water. Soak it for at least six hours or overnight.

     2) Transfer it to a large pot of boiling water.

     3) Simmer for approximately 30 minutes or till it is tender.

     4) Add salt to taste. You can add any herbs that you like. Eg. curry leaves etc.

     5) Drain it and it is ready to eat.

Healthy snack!

It tastes best when served hot!

Puchong - Stadt German Cuisine and Bistro

Winnie, who stays in Puchong  suggested us to have lunch in the Stadt German Cuisine and Bistro, in Bandar Puteri, Puchong. GREAT! I never try any German cuisine before. Let’s go!
The best food recommended here is their Pork Knuckle.

The aroma of the pork knuckle was so tempting when it was served on our table.
However the skin, was not that crispy. It was a bit hard to bite or to cut into smaller pieces.
Yes, pork knuckle is known for its collagen. But still, I think is a little too fattening.
The size of the pork knuckle was so huge. Sorry.. we three gals can’t finish it. What a waste…

We also ordered a plate of Ceasar Salad, to balance our meal.
Bill: RM 41.90 + RM 16 approximately RM 70 ++ for three of us included drinks and tax.
My dear friend Lee Ing, treat us. Thx u :D

Great time with you galz!

Puchong - Porridge Time (丰衣粥食) in IOI Mall

After a great shopping time with my friend in IOI Mall, it was time to decide what to have for our dinner.
I have been eating too much of meat for the past few days. So, I thought of to have something plain for the dinner. Not much option to choose in IOI Mall for something plain.

So we head for porridge at the Porridge Time (in IOI Mall).
We ordered Fish Porridge. The texture was smooth.

Fish porridge.

For drinks, we ordered Soya Milk.
Not bad! It blended smoothly with fu chuk taste. Yummy!

Total bill for two person: RM 23.50

Petaling Jaya - Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf

The best pork burger in town.
The Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf.

The name of this restaurant sounds like there is a story behind this restaurant.
Check out their menu. It is like a hardcover story book with the little pigs and the wolf illustration.
Their first branch is in Bangsar and tonight, we went to their new, second branch in Tropicana Mall.

My friend mentioned that their Bangsar branch is usually fully booked.
So we made an earlier reservation to keep a table for us.
It is a great place to hangout and it’s spacious.
Not so noisy even all the tables were fully occupied.

Their waiters were mostly foreigners. Taking orders were still fine. However, they kept serving us with the wrong dishes. Moreover, they were not certain about the name of the dish they brought to our table.

We waited our food for about 30 minutes, but it is worthwhile.
Burgers, we ordered The Big Bad Burger, Hawaiian Hula Burger and Mighty Piggy Burger.
The pork was juicy and tender. All tasted delicious and all the portions were large.

Some of my friends preferred a smaller portion. They ordered spaghetti; the Wolf’s Favourite and Aglio E Olio. Simple and not so much of pork/ meat.

Mighty Piggy Burger, Hawaiian Hula Burger, The Big Bad Burger and their menu .

Here is the bill; RM 290.40 for six person.

Sungai Petani - Restaurant Koek Kee 國記茶樓

Restaurant Koek Kee 國記茶樓

My Papa always said, he and his father used to have breakfast in Keok Kee Restaurant when he was young. Imagine, how long this restaurant has been operated. My papa was born in 1950!
We reached there about 8.30am. The size of the restaurant is not that big. Can’t really accommodate the number of customers they have. So, they used their corridor and their neighbours’ corridor to put the tables and chairs. It was crowded with people (it was Friday, weekend in SP) and luckily we found ourselves a place to seat at an old Liquor shop corridor.
Once we seated comfortably, there came the waitress to take our drink order. We ordered chrysanthemum tea.

Very soon, their waitress brought us some bamboo steamer filled with tasty Dim Sum to choose.

The usual Dim Sum we ordered were Har Kau and Siew Mai. We tried the others too; I remembered the most were the one with Chinese chives filling and the one with seaweed wrap. Nice~~

Papa mentioned that their pau is nice. So we ordered Char Siew Pau and Tua Pau. However, the waitress said that Tua Pau only available after 9.30am. Is ok, we tried the Char Siew Pau first. Keep the Tua Pau for next trip

Suddenly, came the Tua Pau (thought that we will never have a chance to taste it) about 9++am.

Like papa said, their famous pau are all simply divine!  A MUST TRY if you are in SP!

We also ordered porridge. It tasted SO SO SMOOTH and well balanced taste too!
Their menu is limited to only Dim Sum. Nothing fancy like hong kong style chee cheong fun, char kuey kat, ho yip fan, kai keok, deserts etc.
The price is reasonable. Will certainly go to this restaurant again for yum cho cha!
It is located at 6 Jalan Dewa, 08000 Sungai Petani, Kedah. This street is also known as “Jie Kei”, the 2nd Street.
